Ameritopia by Mark Levin

Book Abstract

Ameritopia is the attempt to mold the United States of America into some kind of “utopia” – an idealized society where the federal government claimsthe ability and authority to provide for all the wants and needs of its citizens in exchange for their abject servitude. Utopianism, while cloaking itself in the pursuit of an idealized society where all are prosperous and successful, is in fact a form of creeping tyranny which directly threatens America’s liberty, way of life and national character.

Any time the government enact laws which attempt to redistribute wealth in order to create a “fairer” society, it is in reality taking a step away from liberty towards tyranny. As the federal government continues to expand its power and reach, the paradigm changes for everyone. Today, for example, it is rare for citizens to questions whether it is appropriate for the federal government to undertake a given task, no matter how large or inconsequential. This is the utopian mindset at work.

“I remain convinced that we, the people, are at great risk. There simply are no easy answers to the challenges we face. It will take nothing short of a prodigious effort, of the kind I discussed in Liberty and Tyranny, over a course of many decades, to reestablish America as a constitutional republic. However, this is an effort we must make, no matter how complicated and daunting.”
