Book Presentation
America Back on Track by Senator Edward M. Kennedy
Book Abstract
Throughout our history as a nation, we have faced challenges and turned them into opportunities. Today, the United States is confronted with many problems, including the situation in Iraq, terrorism, poverty, injustice, and racism. Kennedy believes “we must face these problems without fear and with honesty and reason.” He asserts that today’s leaders, unlike President Lincoln, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and President Kennedy, are unfortunately not looking at these challenges “directly, openly, and honestly.” Our democracy is in “disarray.”
Kennedy believes that we need changes in leadership to do what is necessary in facing down these challenges and making the United States a stronger and better place. In America Back on Track, he offers his plans for how these challenges should be met.
