Amused
The line, “Sometimes I just think funny things,” from the movie, Arthur reminds us that being amused is as easy as our own out-of-the-box thoughts.
We feel amused by those brief moments that allow us to ponder behaviors that perplex us—those that are eccentric, silly, or simply different.
It’s easy to be amused if we don’t take things too seriously, and appreciate the differences in people instead of judging them.
We’re easily amused when we let life’s ironies and quirks entertain us instead of shock or offend us.
What amused you today?
Anticipation
Whatever we anticipate, from our fears to our dreams, rarely unfolds exactly as we expect. We’re instinctively wired to anticipate the unknown.
There’s nothing that gives us a moment of happiness faster than anticipation—a first kiss, fitting into “those” jeans again, a new career, a winning lottery ticket, holiday celebrations, or that upcoming vacation.
But, remember, that after the fun anticipatory moments, if we really want something, we’ll need to put a little effort into making the dream a reality.
What happy moment are you anticipating?
Awestruck
Awestruck moments literally cause us to pause from whatever we’re doing and think, “Wow, there aren’t adequate words to describe this.”
It’s a feeling of wonder and amazement that can’t be planned or bought because it surprises us, and defies our expectations.
Anawestruck catalyst is unique to everyone. It might be from the beauty of nature, the unexpected actions of someone, or the emotions evoked from a work of art, song, or book.
Awestruck moments surprise us with unannounced arrivals, so cherish them when they visit.
When was your last awestruck moment?
Balanced
When we feel an inner balance, despite our many obligations, we feel busy instead of overwhelmed. At the end of the day, we feel satisfied instead of exhausted. And, an incomplete To Do list is a matter of prioritization instead of impossibility.
