Preface

What does love mean to you? How many different ways do you use the word? Since love has such a broad range of meanings, it can be defined in many different ways. The love for God can be different than love for family, a friend, or a spouse. In Conversations with Love we express in poetic dialog the four Greek forms of love, as well as Feast, a form we've added.

Storge, motherly love of offspring and family.

Phileo, brotherly friendship love.

Eros, passionate, sensual, romantic love.

Agape, spiritual Christ-like love.

And finally, Feast, a joyous love of food.

Our hope is to enlighten the reader through poetry and prose about these different kinds of love.

My Favorite Thanksgiving Dish?

My Favorite Thanksgiving Dish?

Why are you asking me this?

My answer doesn't exist but I can give you a list.

But I'm curious to see, if others will disagree;

Because if it's up to me, I'll have to choose at least 3!

Start with my salad,

Layered croutons and almonds on top;

Tossed with fat free dressing

and other veggies pre-chopped.

Then my cranberry sauce is mixed with honey and spice;

I have a special recipe for red beans and rice.

Roasted apple-butter biscuit melts as you chew it;

Spicy scalloped potatoes have parsley cooked through it.

Palm-sized parmesan-herb cloverleaf rolls

Sit next to lemon garlic dip in warm dinner bowls.

Sweet potatoes, hot-buttered, spicy, zesty, and sweet;

Mustard and cheese covers broccoli with heat.

The main dish,

the centerpiece, makes me smile like a baby;

Maple-glazed roasted turkey with bourbon-pecan gravy.

But turkey ain't nothin' without corn bread stuffin';

Peach cobbler and pumpkin pie must stay warm in the oven.

Those aren't the only desserts, I have two more to supply;

Banana wafer pudding and caramelized pecan pie.

So do you see what I mean, it's sooo hard to choose;

If I pick only one, the rest of them lose.

I know your mouth watered the moment you read this;

Oooh! I forgot,

Candied parfait, with chocolate strips on the edges!

My Hot Lover

Every time I turn the corner

I am reminded of you.

You are sooo damn hot

And tender.

You are so hot you are smokin'!

It's your golden brown skin

That always seems to reel me in.

Those shapely legs

Voluptuous breasts

And thick thighs.

You're closer to perfect when paired with fries.

I'd even lick your insides if I could have you every day.

I'm addicted to you.

I often catch myself daydreaming about your juices,

Flowing down the side of my mouth.

How savory you are.

To my tongue you're a Supa' Star.

And your smell

Anyone can tell when you're near.

I just wish you were here

So I can taste your essence.

You spread your wings but never fly.

You only live so you can die.

In fact, I saw you one day getting yo' strut on.

Then out of nowhere,

I had the sudden desire to bite your neck

Awww, what the heck.
