Hello, I live in a small town known as: Redwood, the town was named after the large tall trees that surround where we live. The Redwood trees are tall & large like skyscrapers in big cities where you may live, & older than our grandparents’-grandparents. I’m sorry I didn’t introduce myself, my name is Warrick: I’m a bird-watcher, a photographer, a husband, a dad, & an artist; I know I wear many hats.

In Redwood most of the noble citizens are: farmers, blacksmiths, & carpenters. The adults think I’m boring, but the children fortunately, don’t feel that way, they all enjoy my photographs & paintings of my fantastic flying friends!

My daily adventures always begin early in the morning; I always wander into the forest among the giant trees with my camera & sketch book. This morning, I was greeted by the woodpeckers & blue jays, I took a few nice photos of them, but I’m searching the forest for a friend who’s much larger than the woodpecker & blue jay. I walked slowly & quietly through the low lying morning fog, I’m always amazed, even at early mornings, the forest can be very noisy with all the wild-life.

Ahh! Just as I was going to give up in search of my friend, I spotted him sitting quietly on top of the roof of an old abandoned log cabin, watching me walking towards him. He looked beautiful & strong as always, but this morning because of the gentle sunlight that was shining on his golden feathers, it made him looked simply regal. I called him Glendale, he was a large Golden Eagle who was never camera shy, he always allowed me to get pretty close to him so I can take his photo; he was quite a vain fellow you know.

Glendale flew away but he left me a token, one of his huge golden feathers, it felt amazing! I placed the feather in my shirt pocket so I won’t loose it. I started heading down to the lake, a place where the native Indians named it: Big Water. When I reached to Big Water it was very still & silent, I could see my reflection clearly, it was like I was gazing into a big fancy mirror. When I was a boy my father took me fishing here, but you had to be very quiet & fortunate to catch one of these clever fish.

I guess I was never fortunate, quiet, or clever, because my father & I never caught a fish in Big Water. However, there was a giant nest at the very top of a tree near the lake’s edge, I gazed at the nest through my camera & I was excited of what I saw! It was Aura, the Bald Eagle & her family; she was the best fisherman in all of Redwood. Aura flew away from her nest & landed on a branch not too far away from me, Aura was a gorgeous lady, but she didn’t like taking pictures that much.
