Adjusting Attitudes For Smooth Sailing

I learned the hard way …..what you don’t know can hurt you! Who would believe that we become what we think about the most? This is really scary , but so true!

I have been doing a lot of research and studying about how our mind works and I have learned a lot. Our mind doesn’t know if we have really made something happen or we have just thought about it. Once our mind gets an idea of what is on our mind it makes these things happen! This is really powerful; because it means that we can cause either good things or bad things to happen to us based on our thoughts!

There was not doubt about it, I went into the single parenting role with a lot of anger. I was blaming everyone for this new role, I was complaining about it and not only making myself more miserable, but, everyone miserable around me! Then I read that what I think about is what I will most often experience! My angry attitude was working overtime, believe me! Everything that could go wrong, did! My focusing on only positive thoughts maybe I could turn things around. What did I have to lose?

Attitudes are simply our internal thoughts and feelings transferred into actions. I finally realized that I could sit around and be miserable the rest of my life; or I could make some major personal changes and see if things got better.

When I began to change my thoughts the most amazing things began to happen. I changed my actions. And when I changed my actions I changed results! I couldn’t believe it. Try it out for yourself. You won’t believe the dramatic changes, either. I now realized that I had to be positive about everything….even if I had to begin by faking it! My children needed to see a parent who was committed to making each day a good day. This began by expecting a good day. I heard someone say one time that they could not promise us a good day; however, they could almost always promise us what we expect! This is so true. Expect good results. Expect good things to happen to you and the children each and every day and watch what happens!

You might be thinking that this is just a lot of motivational talk and that it really does not work. Well, you are mistaken. Try thinking only of positive things and positive outcomes.

I have listed a few things that helped me to make positive thinking a habit.

Schedule quality , fun time with each of the children each day.

Plan healthy eating habits and a time to work out daily.

Organize the time in my day to do only those things that are top priority and time effective.

Keep a daily journal of things that worked out well for us and things to skip.

As a result of these actions, I will receive in return:

A closer relationship with my children.

Improved fitness and health and an opportunity to live longer and healthier life.

A list of tips and strategies to use on a regular basis that I know works for us.

See how this works? We decide on what we are committed to doing in order to get the results we want. I had been doing it all backwards! Our positive thoughts and ideas can have a life of their own. When we water and feed them on a positive, daily basis, they grow! The thoughts we think, the books we read and the people we choose to associate determine what we will be doing in the next five years! Believe it and you will achieve it!
