Dedication

This book is dedicated to every man and woman who truly desires to see people set free. Many leaders have helped to train, guide, and impart wisdom into my life to enable me to help so many others. I would first like to thank my father, the late Prophet Robert M. Best Sr., who imparted a heavy anointing upon my life even as a child. The prayers he prayed over my life did not hit the ground. My father was ahead of his time but died in his prime, but the prophetic mantle he wore was significant to the Kingdom. I would like to thank my mother, Evangelist Agatha I. Best. To this day, she stands by my side in ministry, and her wisdom from the days of old helps to build my faith continually.

To my loving wife, Elder Kesha E. Best, you’ve been my rock for over 25 years. We’ve grown together in ministry in ways I never would have imagined. I truly don’t know where I would be if God had not sent you into my life. As I grew up as a little boy, I also watched my uncle, Pastor Gary Purnell, put many demons on the run in his ministry. He helped to set many men and women free in the city of Berlin, Maryland.

This book is also dedicated to the late Apostle Leon Williams, who doused me in a heavy anointing before he left us. I was sitting in a service in Cambridge, Maryland when you called me to the front and proceeded to pour a full bottle of oil upon my head. As time went on, I would later run many revivals at your church, Refuge Temple. Apostle Williams talked with me often and would state to me, “I see something special in you, do me a favor…please don’t compromise the gospel like so many others have done!” He was one of the greatest of his generation. The stories of how he would wrestle with and defeat many foul spirits in his years of ministry are still ringing to this day. I would also like to thank Bishop Weldon M. Johnson for the years of prayer, teaching, impartations, and amazing leadership. When my father passed away, God used you to fill that void for many years.

Finally, I would like to dedicate this book to Apostle Demario Mouzon. God sent a special friend into my life for a short season, but in that, he would help to PUSH me into levels of ministry that I had never experienced in 18 years of preaching the gospel. Apostle Mouzon taught me to step outside of the familiar and accelerate my faith. It is because of the God in him that I was finally able to break the fear of STANDING UP TO EVERY WILE OF THE ENEMY.

Prophet Robert M. Best Jr.

Notes

Preface

I have to be honest; there are so many others who work in major levels of deliverance and healing. I’m not writing this book to say that I am a professional in this area, but I can say that I have had ten years plus of experience out of the 18 years that I have been ministering the gospel with casting out demons. I desire to open the eyes of the people of God to the many attacks of the enemy that can only be combated through the power of the Holy Ghost! This book will only be for a select amount of people since most churchgoers don’t like to venture into these areas of ministry.

When I was young in ministry, there was a lady by the name of Sis. Regina Jenkins would often tell my wife and me, “If it ain’t of God then it has to be a demon!” There were many, including me, who didn’t want to believe that everything is a spirit. As the years went by, and God began to allow me to see more in the Spirit rather than this fearful flesh, I then found out that Sis. Jenkins was on to something heavy. Demons are REAL…Witchcraft is REAL…Sickness is demonically controlled by a spirit. Satan has agents everywhere on this earth. If you don’t begin to learn the tools and weapons that God has made available to us, then soon you will perish when it wasn’t even your time to go.

Forward

Are you tired of living life at levels less than God’s best for you? Are you tired of living through cycles of comprise, disorder, and confusion? This book will reframe the lens in which you see your position on God’s battlefield, explore the depths of spiritual warfare, and prepare you to operate on the front line of a spiritual combat zone. Serving under the covering of Prophet Best has allowed me to witness his prophetic mantle, spiritual insight, and expertise in spiritual warfare. He has a heart for God and the desire to see us all operate effectively, accurately, and powerfully in spiritual realms.

It’s time to shift to a Kingdom mentality, so you operate with confident assurance that you are who and what God says you are. You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, God’s special possession (1 Peter 2:9), set apart (Deuteronomy 14:12), the light of the world (Matthew 5:14), the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13). It’s time to walk in the power, authority, and purpose that God has destined for you. It’s time to take your rightful place on God’s battlefield. Tighten your belt of truth. Adjust your breastplate of righteousness. Put on your shoes of peace. Hold your shield of faith. Polish your helmet of salvation. Equip yourself with the sword of the Spirit. Put on your armor, and let’s go!

CHAPTER ONE

Understanding the Army of Satan

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.  For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

(King James Version, Ephesians 6:10-12)

Wiles: devious or cunning stratagems employed in manipulating or persuading someone to do what one wants

Principality: 1. a state ruled by a prince 2. (in traditional Christian angelology) the fifth highest order of the nine fold celestial hierarchy

Power: the capacity or ability to direct or influence the behavior of others or the course of events

Ruler: a person exercising government or dominion

Spiritual: relating to or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things

Wickedness: the quality of being evil or morally wrong

If we are going to talk about spiritual warfare, we must separate the flesh from Spirit now! In my introduction, I stated most churches don’t exercise these teachings due to a lack of faith in God. You would be surprised how many churches have closed their doors to my form of ministry. Due to my interaction with confronting demonic activity head-on, I’m praying if leaders know they are not capable of leading God’s people to full deliverance, that they would begin to remove the name “deliverance” from the titles of their ministries. It has become a misleading spiritual promotion gone wrong.

Before we go deep into Ephesians, we must realize that the power of God is real. Do not be misled by the emotional shenanigans we have viewed time and time again via social media. I have seen so many people make a mockery out of true deliverance that it sickens my spirit. It is causing troubled men and women who need desperate change to give up hope on the real delivering power of God. Deliverance isn’t going to happen in our high times of false spiritual dance-offs held in the front of our churches. These kinds of moves only leave you emotionally high. My experience with drugs qualifies me to state that all highs eventually wear off. True deliverance can ignite in high moments of prayer and worship.

I have been in many different services throughout my many years in ministry. The one consistent thing is if you seek to know if an evil spirit is hiding in your midst, just begin to push the people to pray and worship intensely. Worship creates a whole different atmosphere than “praise break moments.” On a side note, has anyone stopped to pay attention to the musician’s corner lately? It has become the worldliest bunch of mess that I’ve seen in my life! Most of them have No Standard, No Commitment, No Relationship, and No Deliverance. In most instances, none of them have the Holy Ghost. Evil spirits can hide and mask themselves well behind a crowd. Most churches have become emotionally excited by people who are driven to dance to the rhythm of a musician’s corner. When you call for harmony and transparency, these are the ingredients for true worship.

But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

(John 4:23-24)

Evil spirits cannot hide amid unified worship. True worship demands a sincere posture of repentance before an all-seeing God. When we are genuinely in a place of Spirit and truth, everything about whom you are and what you stand for is exposed before God for spiritual diagnosis. This is the place in which evil must separate from holiness. We can dance, shake, and shiver all night long, but I guarantee you it will not produce the spiritual outcome that comes from 20 minutes of true uninterrupted worship. I have witnessed many breakthroughs in the Spirit in moments like these. We must go back to demanding the true evidence of godly deliverance. There should be some purging at times, while at other times, you will hear screams, yells, crying out, and sometimes actions incited by angry emotions. You must understand that Satan and his full regime are very territorial when it comes to keeping men and women bound to his control.

Let’s look at Ephesians 6:11: “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Wiles are devious or cunning stratagems employed in manipulating or persuading someone to do what one wants. Satan seeks to control men and women through devious schemes. Try to remember that you are dealing with a spiritual being that could convince a third of Heaven to give up their place in glory for false hopes. For this reason, we find ourselves trying to convince many people that they are headed in the wrong direction, but for some reason, they can’t believe a word we are saying.

Demons strategize how they are going to infiltrate an individual. Have you ever seen someone who can’t think for themselves? You’ll always find them doing what all the wrong people tell them only to watch them eventually slide down a path to catastrophic destruction. This is because evilness always seeks out the weak. A strong-willed person refuses to be controlled, especially if they have any insight that they are about to be taken advantage of. The Bible calls it wiles of the devil; he is manipulating leaders to persuade followers in a devious manner to abort true deliverance. I will state for a fact if God could deliver a wretched man such as me, surely He can deliver every type of individual on this earth.

The Bible says, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood…” This statement comes directly after warning us of the wiles of the devil. There are actions that we will experience through individuals who know not what they do. I did a teaching one time and stated that just as God appoints His Spirit to release anointing upon His people, surely Satan has earmarked individuals to do the same thing. When you’re truly walking in a deliverance anointing, attacks will come at you fleshly, but a spirit will drive them. A demon doesn’t have an appointment with death once it’s finished occupying individuals; it merely searches for another home/person that will invite (yes, INVITE) him in.

Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand…” This particular armour comes with many different spiritual attributes: Shield of Faith, Breastplate of Righteousness, Sword of the Word of God, Helmet of Salvation, Belt of Truth, and the Shoes of the Gospel. Look not so much at the armour, but rather what the armour protects in the Spirit. Breastplate of Righteousness (the heart). In our natural lives, if our heart stops beating, we will surely die. So, if in our spiritual lives our heart becomes filled with darkness, what do you think will happen to our spirits? The Helmet of Salvation (the mind).
