Frank Meadows’ second book, “Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted,” goes beyond his healing prayers from his first writings and delves deeper into the mental strongholds that trap our emotions. Submerged in past traumas and hurts that spill over into every part of our lives, are these memories that need to be brought to the surface. Through the proper steps needed for deliverance, Frank carefully addresses how we can make our great escape from the prison in our own minds. As we walk into our brokenness and let Jesus put us back together, we can embrace our past and live victorious in our present. I recommend this book and know that you will be helped; and in turn, you can help others heal as well.

I find difficult to express in a few words my thoughts regarding my friend Frank Meadows. He is a man of great integrity, grace, compassion, humility, godliness, love, kindness, patience, truth, and honour. He has devoted his life to helping the broken hearted as a profession and ministry. His experience is extensive, deep, tested, and proven. His books are based on experiential reality not concepts. Frank is real and sincere in his teachings, ministry, counselling, and life. I highly endorse him and wholeheartedly recommend his work. He is Kingdom focused; and I know that if you read his materials, you will be drawn closer to God, and will find answers, freedom, and healing.

“Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted,” is a powerful message of hope with practical application of how we as believers can walk free from the devil’s influence in our lives. Frank Meadows brings insight into how we can often unknowingly align our thoughts with Ungodly Beliefs through our personal traumas and pain. In his latest book, Frank offers proven biblical methods of confronting these core beliefs which have helped thousands of people expose the enemy’s plans of destruction and set them free to embrace their true identity as Children of God through Christ Jesus. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. “Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted,” offers powerful tools for every believer to fully possess and walk in that freedom!

Seasons, trends, and sermon series come and go, but applied truth is not about new and old—it’s about personal transformation. “Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted,” is loaded with many valuable truths and will be a significant and much needed resource for many for a very long time.

“Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted,” helps me see my reflection in the mirror of God’s truth. As a professional Christian counselor, I often think about how a book applies to others. However, Frank Meadows’ principles had me looking at my own untrue core beliefs that make me spiritually vulnerable. If you desire to have a deeper understanding of the power of God’s exactness and love, I strongly recommend reading this book. It is a keeper, and you will find yourself referring to it often.

As Frank says, “I want to make clear that memories really do not need to be healed. What occurred in our past has already happened and cannot be changed. What needs to be healed or renewed is the mind’s interpretation of those events, our lie-based thinking, internalized in our past memories.” These memories affect our behavior in our homes, at work, school or church. He goes on to say, “God does not want us to have just more information, but a revelation that leads to transformation. ... Only as we encounter the Lord’s healing, mind renewing Presence, will we be free.” Frank has been working with Christians of every Tradition who are willing to pursue a renewed mind and allow the Holy Spirit to introduce the Truth to our past traumas. Jesus teaches us to pray to be “delivered from evil.” Catholics pray this at every Mass! Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted will be a great tool for you in your pursuit of ongoing conversion. It will help you expose the roots that need healing, both personally and sacramentally.

This volume, as the title announces, is first about Jesus; His overwhelming capacity and desire to utterly heal us. Through our nearly 20 years of friendship, I’ve admired Frank Meadows attaining a comprehensive grasp of our Savior as the sufficiency to our vast emptiness. The narrative you will discover demonstrates the sweetest wisdom born of experiential understanding. Yet, there is also a biblical accuracy to the terminology of healing, deliverance, even “the demonic.” This is no self-help, or quick-fix, endeavor. Rather, I lingered and reflected page-by-page, even praying aloud with my gifted brother, as he voiced my pathway again to the very Fountain of Life, Himself. Come and drink deeply, be whole.

More than anyone I know, Frank takes on difficult issues of healing and deliverance with a calm confidence, never afraid of reality and always convinced of God’s power. In Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted, Frank’s conversational style walks the reader through a process of recognizing strongholds, to the freedom found in facing head-on the life experiences that gave those strongholds a foothold. Ready for deliverance based in reality? Then read along with Frank.

Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted is Frank Meadows’ second book in his Mind Renewing Healing Prayer series. Rooted in the Theophostic principles from which Frank has seen great healing take place since 1999, this book focuses on when and how deliverance is indicated in the context of Mind Renewing Healing Prayer. With skill and compassion from many years of clinical practice, Frank examines how the demonic is intertwined in the healing process and how to address the mental strongholds that must be torn down through a deliverance intervention. Sound clinical practice combined with well-grounded Christian theology makes this book a must read for both professional counselors and laity who are called to the ministry of inner healing and deliverance.

Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted
I thought becoming a Christian was good enough for me after 28 years of a steady diet of lies and deception as a severely abused Muslim woman who was raised in a violent and a very hostile environment. Becoming a Christian was just the beginning of my healing journey. My identity was intensely damaged. I had PTSD and a lot of other issues that I didn’t know were there. I was stuck and hurting for so many years. Years of counseling and deliverance brought me to a healthier place, yet there were still deeper soul wounds and demonic strongholds that were crippling me and hindering my walk with Christ and hurting my relationships. When I was intentionally seeking further healing and deliverance in my deep soul wounds, I met Frank Meadows through a friend. That was truly a turning point in my life. He facilitated the Holy Spirit’s Presence gently with Father’s love and walked me through a journey of healing and freedom. This book provides what I personally encountered: A Journey to True Freedom.
In his second book, Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted, Frank is drawing from his decades of experience and wisdom, creating a powerful guide for all of us, especially the ones who need to understand and receive both healing and deliverance. It is so valuable to understand how mental strongholds are fashioned and how demonic spirits are interwoven into the structure of a mental stronghold, which gives us the keys to tear them down. I haven’t found a book similar and so balanced providing such help and understanding of mental and demonic connections. He is not only explaining the link between our ancestries, events and lies but also providing a cure of mind renewal prayers which I prayed many times with Frank about different areas of my life and experienced many great victories.
I’m not writing this forward only as a reader of his book who liked the ideas in this book. But I’m writing as someone who walked through the path of healing and deliverance with Frank based on the biblical methods that he is offering in this book and came to the other side as a healthy and a happy individual.
I wish I had this book years ago when I first became a believer. That would have saved me so much time and many heartaches. But our God is the restorer of every loss. Today, I am able to help millions of people around the globe with my healing and deliverance story on TV and social media as a healthy minister. I am very grateful to Frank for his impact and influence in my life, which is available to you in this book. I pray as you read it with an open heart and the leading of the Holy Spirit, you will experience the same freedom I experienced and also will learn more about how to understand and help others with mind renewing healing prayers.

I am grateful to so many for supporting me in this endeavor. First and foremost, to God for saving my soul and taking me on my own healing journey and introducing me to Sozo, the Greek word for salvation, meaning to be saved, healed and delivered. And how thankful I am for giving me a ministry of inner healing and deliverance to the wounded, oppressed and broken. I have been blessed beyond measure with such joy and a sense or meaning, fulfillment, and life purpose. There is no greater joy in life than having set in our hearts our life’s work and to find satisfaction in all my toil—it is truly a gift of God.
9What do workers gain from their toil?10 I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race.11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.12 I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.13 That each of them may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.
Ecclesiastes 3:9-13 (NIV)
It is such a privilege to write about my life’s work as a therapist and healer since 1977. There have been a multitude of ups and downs and many life lessons to learn along the way. In 1999, I began a new and wonderful phase of the healing ministry when I came across the teachings of Dr. Ed Smith and his Theophostic Healing Prayer Principles. They profoundly changed how I ministered to the broken and drastically increased the level of healing and breakthrough I saw in those I ministered to. What I learned in studying and using the Theophostic principles are the foundation of what I now call, Mind Renewing Healing Prayer. There is nothing greater than to join with God and have the privilege of Him working through you.
I am so grateful and blessed to have such a great and wonderful wife of 43 years who is my best friend, Beth, who has been with me through thick and thin. She has given me the grace and latitude to write over the last 5 years, which I am so grateful for. Thank you to my sons, Ryan and Jonathan and their wives, my two wonderful daughters-in-laws, Catherine and Anna, for their love, interest, support, and prayer for this project. Thanks to Maryalice Meadows, my 87-year-old mother, who I am so blessed to have in my life. You have always been my greatest intercessor—for me, my family, and daily over the writing of this book. I am eternally grateful for your lifetime of love, hard work, and dedication to the kingdom of God, your family, and for your intercession!
I am very grateful and appreciative for my friend of 35 years, John Syes, for your friendship, mentoring, support, and prayers! Thanks to Andrea Petry from Printopya for guiding me through the quagmire of the publishing and printing process. Thanks again to Nick Wallace from Red Dove Designs for the great cover design and graphics. Thanks to Susan Thompson of Revelation Publishing House. Thank you, Steve Elliot, for your valuable editing feedback and to the many intercessors who prayed for this project. Thank you Pastor Adam Cates, Jerry Cates, Leslie and Dan Chaverin, and Jack Buckingham. Thanks to the many people who have given me great encouragement and positive feedback after my first book, Jesus, Healer of the Brokenhearted, to continue my writing. Thanks to my friend Steve Newton for our breakfasts and for your prophetic prayers and sage advice! Thanks to my friend Isik Abla for your incredible support of my ministry and writing! You are a great blessing to me and to many!
Thank you, to my friend and founder of Christian Psychotherapy Services, Dr. Page Huff, for your support over the years of my endeavors and for supporting me in developing the Meadows Healing Prayer Center, where I have honed my healing prayer and therapeutic skills.
Thank you to the many clients who have entrusted their lives to me in their brokenness and have received healing, deliverance and breakthrough. It has been a privilege to learn from you and an honor to be a part of your story!
Thanks again to Chris and Mike from Cure Coffeehouse, for creating such a great atmosphere to create and write! Thanks Alan for all the wonderful meals and to all the great baristas for all the great coffee “pour-overs” that kept me going!
Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted is the second book in a series I am writing on Mind Renewing Healing Prayer. While my first book, Jesus, Healer of the Brokenhearted, provides the reader with a foundational understanding of the essential principles of Mind Renewing Healing Prayer, this book focuses primarily on how mental strongholds are fashioned in the mind and the role of the Mind Renewing Healing Prayer process in dismantling and tearing them down. We will also discover how and when to utilize deliverance prayer in the context of the mind renewal process. This book is not meant to be a comprehensive book on deliverance; instead, it is meant to serve as a companion piece that addresses these topics in the context of Mind Renewing Healing Prayer.
My first book, Jesus, Healer of the Brokenhearted, gives a detailed account of the Mind Renewing Healing Prayer process, which is rooted in Theophostic Healing Prayer principles from which I have been seeing great inner healing take place since 1999. What I now call Mind Renewing Healing Prayer is a healing process in which the central theme is how ones’ lie-based thinking impacts our whole lives in detrimental ways. It assumes that the core problems in life come not just from faulty thinking, but from what I call lie-based, core foundational beliefs. These are beliefs that are interpreted in the context of our childhood hurts and wounds. Once the lie is set in place, the lie becomes the lenses from which we see, interpret, and ultimately live our lives. Mind Renewing Healing Prayer is a powerful, spiritled, inner-healing process. In Jesus, Deliverer of the Brokenhearted, I focus on when and how deliverance is indicated in the context of Mind Renewing Healing Prayer.
I am thankful for the impact Dr. Ed Smith and his Theophostic Healing Prayer Principles have had on my life and my ministry. This book was written from my own experience and perspective. I sat down and wrote about what I do for a year just out of my head, putting what I do into my own language. The first two books so far have come out of that material. There will be several more in the coming years, God willing. However, you will see throughout this book Theophostic themes and principles which have greatly impacted my thinking—the duality of the two parts of the mind, free will and choice, Jesus communicating truth to our lie-based beliefs, as well as the hindrances to healing, primarily anger that blocks the healing process. Also, triggered emotions lead us to our lie-based beliefs in past memories. While there are some variations in some of my views today, I want to give credit to Ed Smith’s major contribution to the healing prayer community and to me personally. I have referenced these similarities throughout the book as they are a part of what I now call Mind Renewing Healing Prayer.
There are several stories of healing throughout the book. In all stories, the names have been changed; and some stories are compilations of stories where I have seen God bring healing countless times. In some places, the scriptures are underlined for emphasis but the underlining’s are not a part of the original text.
Part One, focuses on how I see the ways that demonic spirits gain inroads as a result of our brokenness and how to effectively minister to the demonized in the healing prayer process. I often see people looking for a quick fix to their brokenness and seeking deliverance for life issues that primarily require healing. This section focuses on how I see demonic issues that need to be addressed in the healing prayer process. In later chapters, I discuss how the demonic is connected to lie-based thinking and other issues that require a deliverance intervention in order to bring wholeness.
Part Two, the major portion of this book, focuses on my theory of how the layers of mental strongholds develop and are intricately woven together, building and holding a mental stronghold in place. This is the soil in which our lie-based beliefs are planted, cultivated and grow. These are the building materials that surround our lie-based beliefs, holding our lies in place, that need to be addressed and dismantled in the healing prayer process. However, this book will focus on how demonization is intertwined, thus reinforcing and strengthening the fabric of a mental stronghold. I believe this is important in understanding how strongholds are formed and reinforced as well as the demonic’s role in holding the stronghold in place. As we understand the demonic’s role in building strongholds in the mind, it helps us understand the keys to dismantle the layers of a stronghold through the power of the Holy Spirit, in the Mind Renewing Healing Prayer process. We will also learn when a direct deliverance prayer and intervention needs to take place.
Part Three, details how we use Mind Renewing Healing Prayer as the primary weapon to tear down strongholds, uproot the places demonic spirits gain a foothold, and bring Jesus’ truth to lie-based beliefs. We will also learn specific prayers of deliverance in order to dismantle their hold.
As a Christian and a licensed clinical social worker with over 40 years’ experience, this book is written from both biblical and experiential perspectives. In this regard, it is meant to be both theologically sound and practically oriented.
May the Lord bless you greatly as you read this book.
Frank Meadows, LCSW
Prayer Declaration Over All Readers: (Prayerfully declare this out loud, in agreement with me.)
I declare that You, oh Lord, would open the hearts and minds of all who open this book and read these pages and that You would reveal Your truth. (John 16:13) May You open the eyes of their hearts and illuminate their minds. May they have the Spirit of wisdom and revelation of who You are and may they have a deep revelation of who they are in Christ. (Ephesians 1:17-20)
I ask that You would reveal to them the strategies that the kingdom of darkness has fashioned against them. I declare that no weapon formed against them would prosper and every lying tongue that has risen or will rise up against them will be shown to be in the wrong. (Isaiah 54:17) I bind the spirits of darkness operating through their brokenness, generational curses, sin, and deception. May all the strategies fashioned against them be exposed and may the God of peace crush Satan under their feet in Jesus’ name! (Romans 16:20)
I ask that You would unravel and dismantle all the layers of their strongholds, that their lie-based, core-foundational lies would be exposed, revealed, and dismantled, and that they would receive a deep revelation of truth. I ask that You would unleash your supernatural weapons of warfare that are mighty before God for the tearing down of strongholds. (2 Corinthians 10:3-5) Your Word says that no weapon formed against them would prosper, and I declare every lying tongue that rises up against You would be shown to be in the wrong.
Lord, I submit each reader into Your protection and care, and I ask that You would put the whole Armor of God on them according to Ephesians 6:10-18. I also ask that You would surround them with a hedge of protection and warring and ministering angels to protect, war on their behalf, and minister to them in Jesus’ name according to Hebrews 1:14; Psalm 91; Psalm 34:7; Psalm 103:20-21.
I pray that You would reveal to and clothe them with their Kingdom Identity and release them into their Kingdom Destiny! (Ephesians 2:10; Jeremiah 29:11; Psalm 139:13-16) I ask that You would prophetically reveal all the days that are written in their book and that they would fully walk in their destiny. (Psalm 139:16)
I ask that You would fulfill Your mandate for each of them and heal the brokenhearted; proclaim liberty to the captives; set the captives free; comfort all who mourn; give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, that they would be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that You would be glorified in each of them in Jesus’ name! (Isaiah 61:1-3; Luke 4:16-21)
