We Deserve Life, Liberty, and Happiness, But … (certain exceptions need to be considered)

We deserve to enjoy life and all the wonderful things it offers.

We deserve to enjoy liberty and all the blessings of freedom.

We deserve to enjoy happiness and all the great joy it gives us.

But we don’t deserve to live our lives without regard for others.

And we don’t deserve unfettered liberty that causes reckless chaos.

And we don’t deserve happiness that comes at others’ expense.

With these caveats in mind, let’s enjoy life, liberty, and happiness.

How Much I Love You (the heart always reveals the truth)

My darling, mere words have failed

me in trying to express how much

I truly love you. But my overflowing

heart tells the story of the depth of

the everlasting love I have for you.

Watch Out For Those Cracks (a cautionary tale about not paying attention)

If the saying ‘step

on a crack, break

your back’ were true,

hospitals would be

full of cell phone

users who broke their

backs while walking

down the street not

paying any attention.

Karaoke (a tanka poem about singing karaoke)

Karaoke is

a wonderful way that you

can entertain friends

by embarrassing yourself

and acting like a big fool.

NOTE:

“Karaoke (/ˌkæriˈoʊki/; Japanese: [kaɾaoke]; カラオケ, clipped compound of Japanese kara 空 “empty” and ōkesutoraWikipedia
